We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Helper to join our culinary team. The Kitchen Helper will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, kitchen sanitation, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area. Responsibilities: Assist chefs and cooks with food preparation tasks, including chopping vegetables, slicing meats, preparing sauces, and portioning ingredients, following recipes and instructions. Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, and cooking surfaces, such as countertops, cutting boards, and stovetops, using appropriate cleaning agents and techniques. Wash, peel, and cut fruits and vegetables for use in cooking and garnishing dishes, ensuring freshness, cleanliness, and proper food handling practices. Assist with the setup and organization of the kitchen, including stocking ingredients, arranging utensils, and maintaining kitchen supplies and inventory levels. Dispose of kitchen waste, including food scraps, garbage, and recycling materials, in designated bins or containers, following waste management guidelines and sanitation procedures. Sweep, mop, and clean floors in the kitchen area, including behind equipment and in storage areas, to maintain cleanliness and prevent slip hazards. Assist in receiving and storing deliveries of food and supplies, checking for quality, freshness, and proper storage conditions, and rotating stock as needed. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in storage areas, refrigerators, and freezers, organizing ingredients and labeling containers to prevent cross-contamination and spoilage. Follow safety protocols and guidelines, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and practicing safe work habits to prevent accidents, injuries, and exposure to hazards. Assist with dishwashing and kitchen cleanup duties during peak hours or as directed by kitchen supervisors or management. Support kitchen staff in maintaining a clean and organized work environment, contributing to overall kitchen efficiency and productivity. Adhere to food safety regulations, hygiene practices, and sanitation standards in food handling, storage, and preparation areas, ensuring compliance with health department requirements. Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, chefs, and supervisors, reporting any maintenance issues, supply shortages, or safety concerns promptly. Requirements: No formal education or previous experience required; on-the-job training provided. Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately, ensuring consistency and quality in food preparation and kitchen cleanliness. Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities in a team-oriented environment. Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene, safety procedures, and sanitation practices preferred but not mandatory. Flexibility to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate restaurant operations and busy periods.
