We are currently seeking an experienced and customer-focused Restaurant Captain to join our team. The Restaurant Captain will be responsible for overseeing the dining area, coordinating service staff, and ensuring a seamless and memorable dining experience for guests. Responsibilities: Welcome guests as they arrive at the restaurant, escort them to their tables, and provide menus, ensuring a warm and hospitable welcome. Coordinate seating arrangements and manage table reservations, taking into account guest preferences, special requests, and seating capacities. Provide recommendations and descriptions of menu items, including specials, promotions, and chef's recommendations, and assist guests in making informed dining decisions. Take and confirm orders from guests, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and special requests are noted, and communicate orders promptly to the kitchen and bar staff. Monitor dining room activity, anticipating guest needs, and responding promptly to requests, inquiries, and concerns to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction. Supervise and assist service staff, including servers, bussers, and runners, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and attentive service. Ensure adherence to service standards, policies, and procedures, including greeting protocols, order-taking procedures, and service timing, to maintain consistency and quality. Coordinate with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely preparation and delivery of food and beverages, monitoring order times and quality of presentation. Monitor inventory levels of dining room supplies, such as linens, utensils, and condiments, and communicate replenishment needs to the appropriate department. Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally and promptly, resolving issues to the guest's satisfaction and escalating concerns to the management team when necessary. Process guest payments accurately and efficiently, including cash, credit card, and electronic transactions, and reconcile cash drawers at the end of each shift. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the dining area, including tables, chairs, floors, and service stations, following cleaning schedules and procedures. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, sanitation standards, and alcohol service policies, preventing accidents, injuries, and liability issues. Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down dining room sections, checking equipment, and securing the restaurant premises. Requirements: Proven experience as a Restaurant Captain or similar role in a fine dining restaurant, hotel, or hospitality establishment, with at least [X years] of experience in guest service and restaurant operations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, colleagues, and management, and provide exceptional customer service. Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and mentor service staff to achieve performance goals and deliver memorable guest experiences. In-depth knowledge of restaurant operations, including dining room procedures, menu items, wine and beverage offerings, and service standards. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, maintaining composure and professionalism under pressure. Attention to detail and accuracy in order-taking, payment processing, and guest service, ensuring a seamless and efficient dining experience. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the restaurant's operating hours and service schedule. Certification in food safety and alcohol service (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe) preferred but not mandatory.
