As a South Indian Chef, you will lead our culinary team in preparing and presenting delicious South Indian dishes, showcasing your culinary expertise and creativity to delight our guests.You will lead by example, inspiring and guiding your team to deliver culinary excellence and uphold the highest standards of quality, flavor, and presentation. This role requires strong leadership skills, culinary expertise, and a passion for South Indian cuisine. Responsibilities: Lead and supervise the kitchen team in preparing a wide range of South Indian dishes, including dosas, idlis, vadas, uttapams, curries, rice dishes, and traditional desserts. Develop and update menus, recipes, and cooking techniques to keep them fresh, innovative, and aligned with guest preferences and dietary trends. Train and mentor kitchen staff in proper cooking techniques, portion control, food safety, and sanitation practices to ensure consistency and quality in all dishes. Plan and organize daily kitchen operations, including ingredient preparation, cooking schedules, and station assignments, to maximize efficiency and productivity. Monitor food inventory and stock levels, order supplies as needed, and minimize waste through effective portion control and inventory management. Ensure that all dishes are prepared according to recipe specifications, presentation standards, and quality guidelines, maintaining consistency and flavor in each dish. Taste and adjust seasonings, flavors, and textures as needed to achieve the desired taste profile and culinary excellence in each dish. Oversee the plating and presentation of dishes to ensure that they are visually appealing and meet the restaurant's high standards of presentation. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including work surfaces, equipment, utensils, and storage areas, in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards. Adhere to kitchen policies, procedures, and guidelines related to food preparation, safety, and sanitation at all times. Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and dietary restrictions professionally, accommodating them to the best of your ability while maintaining the integrity of the menu. Collaborate with other departments, including front-of-house staff, management, and vendors, to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences. Stay updated on industry trends, new ingredients, and culinary techniques through continuous learning and professional development. Conduct regular kitchen inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by promoting teamwork, communication, and mutual respect among kitchen staff. Requirements: Proven experience as a Chef specializing in South Indian cuisine, with a strong track record of culinary excellence and leadership in a reputable restaurant or hotel. In-depth knowledge of South Indian cuisine, ingredients, cooking techniques, and regional variations, with the ability to create authentic and innovative dishes. Culinary training or certification from a recognized culinary school or institution is preferred. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate kitchen staff to perform at their best and achieve common goals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with kitchen staff, management, and guests. Creativity, passion, and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences to guests through culinary innovation and excellence. Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, multitask, and handle pressure effectively.
