As a Denter, you will be responsible for repairing and restoring the structural integrity of vehicles by performing metalwork, panel beating, and dent removal tasks. Responsibilities: Vehicle Inspection: Conduct visual inspections of vehicles to assess the extent of damage, identify dents, creases, and structural deformities, and determine the appropriate repair techniques and materials required. Panel Repair: Repair damaged vehicle panels and structural components using metalworking tools, such as hammers, dollies, and pneumatic tools, to reshape and realign metal surfaces and eliminate dents and deformations. Dent Removal: Remove dents, dings, and creases from vehicle body panels using dent repair techniques, including paintless dent repair (PDR), heat shrinking, and body filler application, to restore smooth and uniform surfaces. Welding and Fabrication: Perform welding and fabrication tasks to repair or replace damaged sections of vehicle frames, chassis, and structural components, ensuring proper alignment and structural integrity. Surface Preparation: Prepare repaired areas for painting by sanding, grinding, and priming to remove rust, corrosion, and surface imperfections, and create a smooth and even surface for paint application. Quality Control: Inspect completed repairs for quality and accuracy, ensuring that repaired areas meet industry standards, structural integrity requirements, and customer expectations for fit and finish. Customer Interaction: Communicate with customers to explain repair procedures, provide cost estimates, and address any questions or concerns they may have regarding the repair process or outcomes. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines for working with metalworking tools, welding equipment, and hazardous materials, and maintain a clean and organized work environment to minimize risks and hazards. Requirements: Education: High school diploma or equivalent qualification required. Vocational training or certification in automotive body repair or collision repair is preferred. Experience: Proven experience as an Automotive Denter or Panel Beater, with hands-on experience in metalwork, dent repair, and structural restoration on vehicles. Technical Skills: Proficiency in using metalworking tools, such as hammers, dollies, body files, and pneumatic tools, and familiarity with welding equipment and techniques (MIG, TIG, oxy-acetylene). Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship to achieve precision, accuracy, and quality in dent repair, panel straightening, and metal finishing tasks. Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze vehicle damage, develop repair strategies, and implement effective solutions to restore vehicle aesthetics and structural integrity. Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, bending, stooping, and working in confined spaces, for extended periods. Teamwork: Collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, following instructions, sharing knowledge, and contributing to the achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
