As a Dishwasher, you will play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen area of our establishment in Wayanad. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are cleaned and sanitized efficiently to support the smooth operation of food preparation and service. This position requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: Dishwashing: Operate commercial dishwashing equipment, including dishwashers, sinks, and sanitizing stations, to clean dishes, glassware, utensils, and pots and pans. Sort and rinse dirty dishes, load them into the dishwasher, and unload clean dishes, ensuring proper storage and organization. Cleaning and Sanitizing: Use appropriate cleaning agents, detergents, and sanitizers to clean and sanitize dishes, surfaces, and kitchen equipment according to established standards. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the dishwashing area, including washing sinks, drainage areas, and surrounding surfaces. Assisting Kitchen Staff: Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling vegetables, chopping ingredients, or assembling food trays, as needed. Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks. Trash Removal: Dispose of garbage, recycling, and compost materials properly, following waste management guidelines and procedures. Empty trash bins and recycling containers regularly and replace with clean liners as needed. Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain dishwashing equipment and machinery, including regular descaling, lubrication, and troubleshooting minor issues. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance staff. Adherence to Health and Safety Standards: Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety protocols to prevent cross-contamination and foodborne illnesses. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and aprons while handling dishes and cleaning chemicals. Qualifications and Skills: No formal education requirements; high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience as a dishwasher or in a similar role in a restaurant or hospitality setting is beneficial but not required. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Basic understanding of sanitation and hygiene practices in a kitchen environment. Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift and carry heavy trays, and perform repetitive tasks. Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
