As a Kitchen Helper, you will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen staff and ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen. Your primary responsibilities include assisting chefs and cooks in food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, and completing various tasks to support kitchen operations. This position requires a proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: Food Preparation Assistance: Assist chefs and cooks in preparing ingredients, such as chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and assembling food items. Follow recipes, portion sizes, and preparation methods as instructed to ensure consistency and quality in food production. Help with basic cooking tasks, such as boiling eggs, making salads, and preparing simple dishes. Dishwashing and Cleaning: Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans by hand or using a dishwasher, ensuring that they are cleaned thoroughly and sanitized. Clean kitchen equipment, countertops, and food preparation areas regularly to maintain hygiene and prevent cross-contamination. Dispose of garbage, food waste, and recyclable materials in designated containers, following proper waste management practices. Inventory Management: Assist in receiving and storing food supplies, ingredients, and kitchen equipment deliveries. Maintain inventory levels by restocking supplies, organizing storage areas, and rotating perishable items to minimize waste. Notify supervisors of any shortages, damages, or expired items in inventory for replenishment or disposal. Kitchen Organization: Keep kitchen workstations, storage areas, and refrigerators organized and clean at all times. Arrange utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen tools in designated storage areas for easy access and efficient workflow. Assist in setting up and breaking down kitchen stations before and after meal services. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature control. Follow kitchen safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents, injuries, and hazards in the workplace. Report any maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to supervisors promptly. Qualifications and Skills: No specific educational qualifications are required; a high school diploma or equivalent may be preferred. Prior experience as a kitchen helper, dishwasher, or in a similar role in a restaurant or food service establishment is advantageous but not required. Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and safety procedures. Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a hot and fast-paced environment. Team player attitude with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors and kitchen staff.
