As a Dishwasher, you will play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in a food service establishment by ensuring that all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are cleaned and sanitized efficiently. Your responsibilities include operating dishwashing equipment, organizing dishes for washing, and maintaining a clean and orderly dishwashing area. The ideal candidate will have attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Dishwashing Operations: Load dirty dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment into the dishwasher machine according to established procedures. Operate the dishwasher machine to wash, rinse, and sanitize items thoroughly, adhering to safety and sanitation standards. Handwashing and Scrubbing: Hand wash delicate items or dishes that cannot be cleaned in the dishwasher, using appropriate cleaning agents and techniques. Scrub pots, pans, and other cooking equipment with brushes or scouring pads to remove stubborn food residue. Dish Sorting and Organization: Sort and stack clean dishes, utensils, and glassware in designated storage areas, ensuring they are properly organized and ready for use. Remove and dispose of waste, such as food scraps and trash, from dishwashing areas to maintain cleanliness and hygiene. Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain dishwashing equipment, including the dishwasher machine, filters, and drainage systems, to ensure optimal performance. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to the supervisor for prompt resolution. Kitchen Assistance: Assist kitchen staff with food preparation tasks, such as peeling vegetables, portioning ingredients, or stocking supplies, as needed during busy periods. Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a clean and orderly kitchen environment and support overall kitchen operations. Qualifications and Skills: No formal education is required; however, a high school diploma or equivalent may be preferred. Prior experience as a dishwasher or in a kitchen support role is advantageous. Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects. Attention to detail and a meticulous approach to dishwashing and cleaning tasks. Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene and sanitation practices. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
