As a Computer Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting services for computer systems and networks. Your role involves diagnosing hardware and software issues, installing and configuring computer systems, and ensuring the efficient operation of IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a customer-centric approach to service delivery. Key Responsibilities: Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to users experiencing hardware, software, or network-related issues via phone, email, or in-person support. Diagnose and resolve technical problems, including system errors, software crashes, hardware failures, and network connectivity issues. Hardware Installation and Maintenance: Install, configure, and upgrade computer hardware components, including desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and peripherals. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, hardware diagnostics, and hardware upgrades, to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Software Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and update operating systems, software applications, drivers, and patches on computer systems according to organizational standards. Troubleshoot software issues, compatibility problems, and application errors to ensure smooth operation and user satisfaction. Network Support: Assist with network setup, configuration, and troubleshooting tasks, including LAN/WAN connectivity, router configuration, and wireless network issues. Monitor network performance, analyze network traffic, and identify opportunities for optimization or improvement. Data Backup and Recovery: Implement data backup and recovery procedures to protect critical information and ensure business continuity in the event of data loss or system failure. Perform regular backups, test data recovery procedures, and maintain backup systems to safeguard data integrity and availability. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of technical support activities, including service requests, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and system configurations. Generate reports on system performance, hardware/software inventory, and support metrics to track trends and identify areas for improvement. Qualifications and Skills: Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Proven experience as a computer technician, IT support specialist, or similar role, with expertise in hardware/software troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance. Strong technical knowledge of computer systems, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), hardware components, and software applications. Familiarity with network fundamentals, protocols, and troubleshooting tools (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi). Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues systematically. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users. Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional, etc.) are a plus.
