As a Car Painter, you will be responsible for refinishing vehicle surfaces to restore or enhance their appearance. Your primary duty involves preparing surfaces, applying paint, and finishing coatings to achieve a high-quality finish that meets customer standards and specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive painting, knowledge of painting techniques, and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities: Surface Preparation: Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by sanding, masking, and cleaning surfaces to remove dirt, grease, and imperfections. Repair minor dents, scratches, and rust spots using appropriate techniques and materials to ensure a smooth and even surface. Paint Mixing and Application: Mix paint colors and finishes according to manufacturer specifications and customer preferences using paint mixing equipment and formulas. Apply primer, basecoat, and clearcoat layers using spray guns, ensuring proper coverage, adhesion, and color matching. Painting Techniques: Apply painting techniques such as blending, shading, and feathering to achieve seamless transitions and uniform coverage across panels and surfaces. Use masking tape, stencils, and other tools to create intricate designs, patterns, or decals as required. Quality Control: Inspect painted surfaces for imperfections, color accuracy, and finish quality, making any necessary adjustments or touch-ups to ensure a flawless appearance. Follow quality assurance procedures and standards to meet or exceed customer expectations and industry specifications. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and clean painting equipment, spray guns, and related tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Troubleshoot equipment issues, perform routine maintenance tasks, and make minor repairs as needed. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and best practices to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards in the workplace. Dispose of paint waste, solvents, and other materials in accordance with safety and environmental regulations. Qualifications and Skills: High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience as an automotive painter or refinish technician, preferably in a professional auto body shop or painting facility. Knowledge of automotive painting techniques, materials, and equipment, including spray guns, paint mixing systems, and paint booths. Attention to detail and the ability to match colors accurately, blend finishes seamlessly, and achieve a high-quality finish. Physical stamina and the ability to work in a standing position for extended periods and lift heavy objects as needed. Strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to delivering excellent results. Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
