As a Kitchen Helper, you will be an essential part of the kitchen team, providing support to chefs and cooks in food preparation, cleaning, and organization. Your role involves assisting with basic kitchen tasks, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, and ensuring smooth operations in the kitchen. The ideal candidate will be reliable, hardworking, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Food Preparation: Assist chefs and cooks in preparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables, fruits, and meats. Measure and portion ingredients accurately according to recipes and instructions provided by kitchen staff. Cooking Assistance: Support kitchen staff during cooking processes by fetching ingredients, utensils, and equipment as needed. Monitor cooking times and temperatures, under the supervision of chefs, to ensure food is prepared safely and according to established standards. Dishwashing and Cleaning: Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils by hand or using dishwashing equipment, ensuring they are cleaned thoroughly and sanitized. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including countertops, work surfaces, storage areas, and equipment. Inventory Management: Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies and ingredients to ensure freshness and minimize waste. Notify kitchen staff of low inventory levels or equipment malfunctions to prevent disruptions in food service. Food Safety and Hygiene: Follow proper food handling procedures, hygiene practices, and sanitation protocols to prevent contamination and maintain food safety standards. Dispose of kitchen waste, including food scraps and packaging, in designated receptacles according to disposal guidelines. Assistance with Kitchen Tasks: Assist chefs and cooks in various kitchen tasks, such as food plating, garnishing, and presentation, as directed. Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely preparation of food orders. Qualifications and Skills: Prior experience as a kitchen helper or similar role in a restaurant, hotel, or catering establishment is preferred but not required. Basic knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety practices, and sanitation standards. Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks. Excellent hygiene habits and attention to cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in the hospitality industry.
