As a Cashier, you will be responsible for processing transactions, handling cash, and providing excellent customer service to patrons at our establishment in Kannur. This role involves accurately totaling purchases, processing payments, and providing receipts while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and a friendly demeanor. Key Responsibilities: Cash Handling: Receive payments from customers for purchases made, including cash, credit/debit cards, and digital payment methods. Count cash in the register at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure accurate accounting of funds. Maintain a secure cash drawer, following cash handling procedures and security protocols to prevent discrepancies or losses. Transaction Processing: Scan or manually enter product codes and prices into the point-of-sale (POS) system to calculate totals for customer purchases. Process payments accurately and efficiently, providing customers with receipts and change as needed. Verify identification for age-restricted purchases, such as alcohol or tobacco products, in compliance with legal requirements. Customer Service: Greet customers warmly as they approach the checkout counter, providing friendly and efficient service throughout their transaction. Answer customer inquiries regarding products, prices, promotions, and store policies, offering assistance and resolving issues as needed. Order Management: Process returns, exchanges, and refunds according to company guidelines, issuing store credit or refunds to customers as appropriate. Assist with inventory management tasks, such as restocking shelves, organizing merchandise, and maintaining a neat and orderly checkout area. Accounting and Reporting: Keep accurate records of transactions, including sales, refunds, voids, and discounts, using the POS system or manual logs. Balance cash registers at the end of shifts, reconciling cash, checks, and credit card transactions with transaction records. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth operations at the checkout counter, communicating any issues or concerns that arise during shifts. Provide support to other areas of the store as needed, assisting with tasks such as bagging groceries, stocking shelves, or assisting customers on the sales floor. Qualifications and Skills: High school diploma or equivalent qualification required; additional education or training in accounting, finance, or retail management is a plus. Previous experience as a cashier, sales associate, or retail clerk is preferred but not required. Strong numerical skills and attention to detail to accurately process transactions and reconcile cash registers. Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues. Proficiency in using point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer skills for data entry and transaction processing. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously. Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the operational needs of the store. Additional Information: Training on cashier procedures, POS systems, and store policies may be provided to new hires.
