Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and preheating, and ensure proper fit-up and alignment of components. Perform welding operations, such as MIG welding, TIG welding, arc welding, and oxy-acetylene welding, to join metal parts and assemblies according to welding codes and standards. Monitor welding processes, control parameters, and adjust settings as needed to achieve desired weld quality, penetration, and strength. Inspect welded joints and workpieces for defects, discontinuities, and irregularities, and perform visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards. Repair or rework defective welds by cutting, grinding, and welding to meet acceptance criteria and quality requirements. Maintain welding equipment, tools, and accessories in good condition, and perform routine maintenance, repairs, and calibration as needed. Follow safety procedures, guidelines, and regulations for welding operations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and implementing hazard control measures to prevent accidents and injuries. Adhere to project schedules, deadlines, and production targets, and coordinate with supervisors, team members, and other departments to ensure timely completion of welding tasks. Document welding activities, materials used, hours worked, and production metrics accurately in welding logs, work orders, and production reports. Collaborate with engineers, designers, fabricators, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues, optimize welding processes, and improve product quality and efficiency. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent qualification is required; vocational training or certification in welding technology or a related field is preferred. Proven work experience as a Welder, Welding Technician, or similar role, with hands-on experience in welding and fabrication processes. Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG welding, TIG welding, arc welding, and oxy-acetylene welding, with the ability to perform welds on different metals and alloys. Knowledge of welding codes, standards, and practices, such as ASME, AWS, and API standards, and the ability to interpret welding symbols and specifications. Familiarity with welding equipment, tools, and accessories, including welding machines, torches, electrodes, filler metals, and safety gear. Strong attention to detail and precision in welding operations, with the ability to produce high-quality welds and meet dimensional tolerances and specifications. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical documents related to welding and fabrication projects. Good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness, with the ability to work with precision and accuracy in confined spaces and challenging environments.
