As a Heavy Driver based in Kollam, your primary responsibility will be to operate heavy vehicles safely and efficiently, transporting goods or passengers to their destinations in accordance with established routes and schedules. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely delivery of goods or the safe transportation of passengers while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities: Safely operate heavy vehicles such as trucks, buses, or other commercial vehicles to transport goods or passengers to designated locations. Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while driving, ensuring the safety of yourself, passengers, and other road users at all times. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to check for any mechanical issues, damage, or safety concerns, reporting any problems to the appropriate authorities. Ensure that cargo is securely loaded and properly distributed within the vehicle to prevent shifting or damage during transit. Plan and follow designated routes, using maps or GPS navigation systems as needed, to reach destinations efficiently and on time. Monitor traffic conditions, weather forecasts, and road closures, adjusting routes or driving strategies as necessary to avoid delays or hazards. Maintain accurate records of vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and trip logs, submitting reports to supervisors as required. Provide assistance with loading and unloading cargo, securing items as needed to prevent damage during transport. Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and other team members to coordinate schedules, report delays or incidents, and ensure efficient operations. Uphold a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with customers, clients, or passengers, providing assistance and addressing any concerns or inquiries. Maintain the cleanliness and proper upkeep of the vehicle, including regular washing, fueling, and maintenance tasks such as oil changes and tire checks. Attend training sessions or workshops as required to stay updated on industry regulations, safety procedures, and driving techniques. Qualifications: Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsements for operating heavy vehicles, such as a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) license or passenger endorsement, issued by the appropriate authorities. Proven experience as a heavy vehicle driver, preferably in a commercial or transportation setting. Clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents in the past. Strong knowledge of traffic laws, regulations, and safe driving practices. Ability to operate heavy vehicles safely in various weather and road conditions. Excellent navigational skills and familiarity with local routes and road networks. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, clients, and team members. Physical strength and stamina to handle loading and unloading tasks and sit for extended periods while driving.
