As a Cardiologist in Kollam, you will specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and disorders. Your role will involve providing comprehensive cardiac care to patients, including preventive services, diagnostic tests, medical management, and interventional procedures. This position requires advanced clinical skills, expertise in cardiology, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. Responsibilities: Patient Consultation and Evaluation: Conduct thorough medical evaluations and assessments of patients presenting with cardiovascular symptoms or risk factors. Take detailed medical histories, perform physical examinations, and order diagnostic tests (e.g., ECG, echocardiogram, stress test, cardiac catheterization) to diagnose cardiac conditions accurately. Diagnostic Testing and Interpretation: Interpret diagnostic test results and imaging studies to evaluate cardiac function, identify abnormalities, and formulate treatment plans. Utilize non-invasive and invasive cardiac testing modalities to assess cardiac structure, function, and blood flow dynamics. Medical Treatment and Management: Develop individualized treatment plans for patients based on their cardiac diagnoses, medical histories, and cardiovascular risk profiles. Prescribe medications, lifestyle modifications, and preventive measures to manage cardiovascular conditions, control symptoms, and reduce the risk of complications. Monitor patients' response to treatment, adjust medication dosages, and provide ongoing medical management to optimize cardiovascular health. Interventional Cardiology Procedures: Perform interventional cardiology procedures, including cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), to treat coronary artery disease and other cardiac conditions. Utilize advanced techniques and technologies to restore blood flow to the heart and improve cardiac function in patients with ischemic heart disease. Electrophysiology Services: Offer electrophysiology services, including electrophysiological studies (EPS), cardiac ablation, pacemaker implantation, and defibrillator implantation, to diagnose and treat arrhythmias and conduction disorders. Cardiovascular Risk Assessment and Prevention: Assess patients' cardiovascular risk factors, including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, obesity, and smoking, and provide personalized risk reduction strategies. Educate patients about heart-healthy lifestyle choices, dietary modifications, exercise regimens, and smoking cessation programs to prevent cardiovascular disease and promote overall well-being. Patient Education and Counseling: Educate patients and their families about their cardiac conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies. Provide counseling on medication adherence, symptom recognition, emergency action plans, and follow-up care to empower patients to manage their cardiovascular health effectively. Collaboration and Referrals: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including primary care physicians, cardiovascular surgeons, cardiac rehabilitation specialists, and allied health professionals, to coordinate multidisciplinary care for patients with complex cardiac conditions. Refer patients to subspecialists or diagnostic facilities for further evaluation or management of specific cardiac issues beyond the scope of general cardiology. Documentation and Record-keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, physical examination findings, diagnostic test results, treatment plans, and procedural documentation, in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Requirements: Medical degree (MBBS) from a recognized medical school. Postgraduate qualification (MD/DNB) in Cardiology from a reputable institution. Valid registration with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or Kerala Medical Council (KMC). Fellowship training in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, or cardiac imaging is preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience as a practicing cardiologist. Advanced clinical skills in cardiac assessment, diagnosis, and management. Proficiency in interpreting cardiac imaging studies and diagnostic tests. Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient counseling skills. Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient-centered care, and continuous quality improvement.
