As a Nurse in Kollam, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and competent patient care within various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes. You will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to assess patient needs, implement care plans, administer treatments, and educate patients and their families. This position requires clinical expertise, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality nursing care. Responsibilities: Patient Assessment and Monitoring: Perform thorough assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and psychological health status upon admission and during ongoing care. Monitor vital signs, observe patient condition, and assess responses to treatments or interventions. Recognize and report changes in patient status to the healthcare team promptly. Care Planning and Implementation: Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers to develop individualized care plans based on patients' needs and diagnoses. Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed and ensure adherence to medication schedules and protocols. Provide skilled nursing care, including wound care, catheterization, IV therapy, and medication administration, while maintaining patient comfort and dignity. Patient Education and Support: Educate patients and their families about their health conditions, treatment plans, medications, and self-care techniques. Provide guidance on disease management, lifestyle modifications, and preventive measures to promote optimal health outcomes. Offer emotional support, counseling, and reassurance to patients and families coping with illness, injury, or medical procedures. Documentation and Record-keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, nursing notes, and documentation of patient care activities in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes according to established standards and regulatory requirements. Collaboration and Communication: Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, therapists, social workers, and other nurses, to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of care. Participate in patient care conferences, rounds, and shift handovers to exchange information, discuss patient progress, and plan care transitions. Patient Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for patients' rights, preferences, and needs within the healthcare system. Ensure that patients receive appropriate care, treatment, and support in accordance with ethical standards and professional guidelines. Infection Control and Safety: Adhere to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards to prevent healthcare-associated infections and promote a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Follow standard precautions, hand hygiene practices, and isolation procedures as applicable. Requirements: Diploma in Nursing (GNM) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc Nursing) from a recognized institution. Valid registration with the Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council (KNMC). Clinical experience in medical-surgical, critical care, or specialty nursing preferred. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Empathy, compassion, and a patient-centered approach to care. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Proficiency in computer skills and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
