Collaborate with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other rehabilitation specialists to facilitate optimal recovery and functional outcomes for patients. Emergency Orthopedic Care: Respond to orthopedic emergencies, such as fractures, dislocations, and acute sports injuries, in the emergency department or trauma center. Stabilize patients, perform necessary procedures (e.g., reduction, splinting), and coordinate follow-up care with other medical teams as needed. Patient Education and Counseling: Educate patients and their families about their orthopedic conditions, treatment options, and expectations for recovery. Provide guidance on postoperative care, rehabilitation protocols, activity modifications, and preventive measures to minimize the risk of future injuries. Collaboration and Consultation: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including primary care physicians, physical therapists, radiologists, and anesthesiologists, to coordinate patient care and ensure comprehensive treatment plans. Consult with colleagues or refer patients to subspecialists (e.g., spine surgeons, hand surgeons) for complex cases requiring specialized expertise. Documentation and Record-keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records of patient encounters, including clinical notes, diagnostic tests, treatment plans, and surgical procedures, in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
