As a Sandwich Maker, you will be responsible for preparing and assembling sandwiches and other quick-service menu items according to customer orders and established recipes. Your primary objective will be to ensure the efficient production of high-quality sandwiches, wraps, and snacks while maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards. This role requires attention to detail, culinary skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: Food Preparation: Prepare sandwich ingredients, such as bread, meats, cheeses, vegetables, spreads, and condiments, by slicing, chopping, and portioning them according to recipe specifications and customer preferences. Assembly and Presentation: Assemble sandwiches and wraps according to customer orders, layering ingredients evenly and applying spreads or condiments as required, and ensure attractive presentation and portion control. Cooking and Grilling: Grill or toast sandwiches on a griddle, panini press, or sandwich maker to enhance flavor, texture, and warmth, and adjust cooking times and temperatures to achieve desired results. Customization: Customize sandwiches or wraps based on customer requests, dietary restrictions, or special instructions, and accommodate substitutions or modifications as needed to meet customer preferences. Quality Control: Monitor food quality and freshness throughout the preparation process, including checking ingredients for expiration dates, appearance, and taste, and discard any items that do not meet standards. Cleaning and Sanitization: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the sandwich preparation area, including work surfaces, equipment, utensils, and storage areas, and follow food safety protocols and hygiene practices at all times. Inventory Management: Monitor sandwich ingredient inventory levels, replenish supplies as needed, and rotate stock to ensure freshness and minimize waste, and notify supervisors of any shortages or replenishment needs. Customer Service: Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner, take orders accurately, answer questions about menu items, and provide recommendations or suggestions to enhance the dining experience. Speed and Efficiency: Work efficiently to prepare sandwiches quickly and accurately, prioritize orders based on customer demand, and maintain a steady workflow during peak hours to minimize wait times and maximize customer satisfaction. Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, servers, and management to coordinate sandwich preparation, manage order tickets, and ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction. Requirements: Previous experience as a sandwich maker, deli counter attendant, or food service worker in a restaurant, café, or deli is preferred. Basic culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques, including slicing, chopping, and grilling. Familiarity with sandwich ingredients, fillings, spreads, and condiments commonly used in sandwich-making. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor. Attention to detail and adherence to food safety and sanitation standards. Flexibility to work in shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
