As an Automobile Body Building Technician in Trivandrum, your primary responsibility is to perform bodywork repairs, modifications, and customizations on various types of vehicles, including cars, trucks, buses, and commercial vehicles. You will be skilled in metalworking, welding, and fabrication techniques to repair damaged vehicle bodies or construct custom body structures according to customer specifications. Your duties may include, but are not limited to: Vehicle Assessment and Planning: Inspecting vehicles to assess the extent of body damage or modifications required. Consulting with customers or vehicle owners to understand their requirements and preferences for bodywork. Body Repair and Restoration: Repairing dented, scratched, or damaged vehicle bodies using metalworking tools, body filler, and paint matching techniques. Replacing or repairing damaged body panels, fenders, doors, roofs, and other structural components. Welding and Fabrication: Performing welding and metal fabrication tasks to repair or fabricate vehicle body components. Fabricating custom body parts, modifications, or accessories according to design specifications. Customization and Modification: Performing customizations and modifications to vehicle bodies, such as installing spoilers, body kits, roll cages, or custom paint jobs. Fabricating and installing specialty features, such as racks, shelves, or compartments for commercial or utility vehicles. Alignment and Assembly: Ensuring proper alignment and fitment of body panels, doors, windows, and trim components during assembly. Installing and aligning vehicle glass, mirrors, lights, and other exterior accessories. Painting and Finishing: Preparing vehicle surfaces for painting by sanding, priming, and masking areas as needed. Applying paint, clear coats, and finishing touches to achieve a smooth, uniform, and durable finish. Quality Control and Inspection: Performing quality checks and inspections to ensure that bodywork repairs meet industry standards and customer expectations. Addressing any defects, imperfections, or issues identified during inspections to achieve satisfactory results. Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment and prevent accidents or injuries. Using personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices when performing bodywork tasks. Requirements: Vocational training or certification in automotive body repair, metalworking, or a related field. Proven experience in automobile body building, body repair, or customization work. Proficiency in using metalworking tools, welding equipment, body filler, and paint application techniques. Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship in performing bodywork repairs and modifications. Knowledge of vehicle construction, body materials, and repair techniques. Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and design specifications. Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
