Job Overview: As a Hardware Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining computer hardware components and peripherals. You will work in a technical support capacity, assisting customers with hardware-related issues and ensuring the smooth operation of computer systems. Key Responsibilities: Hardware Diagnosis: Troubleshoot hardware issues on computers, laptops, servers, and peripheral devices to identify faults, failures, or malfunctions. Component Replacement: Replace defective or faulty hardware components, including motherboards, CPUs, RAM modules, hard drives, power supplies, and expansion cards. Hardware Installation: Install and configure new hardware components, peripherals, and accessories, such as graphics cards, network adapters, printers, scanners, and external storage devices. System Assembly: Build or assemble computer systems from individual components, ensuring compatibility, proper seating, and secure connections of hardware components. Hardware Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on computer hardware, including cleaning, dusting, and applying thermal paste to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Data Backup and Recovery: Assist with data backup and recovery procedures to safeguard valuable data and files stored on computer systems and storage devices. Diagnostic Testing: Conduct diagnostic tests and hardware stress tests to assess the stability, performance, and reliability of computer hardware components. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of hardware repairs, replacements, and maintenance activities. Document diagnostic findings, repair procedures, and parts used for future reference and reporting purposes. Customer Support: Provide technical support to customers or end-users experiencing hardware-related issues. Communicate with customers to understand their problems, offer troubleshooting advice, and provide solutions to resolve hardware issues effectively. Inventory Management: Manage inventory of hardware components, tools, and spare parts. Order new hardware supplies as needed, track inventory levels, and maintain organized storage of hardware inventory. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent qualification. Proven experience in computer hardware repair and maintenance. Technical expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware issues on desktops, laptops, servers, and peripheral devices. Familiarity with computer hardware components, specifications, and compatibility requirements. Proficiency in using hardware diagnostic tools, multimeters, and other testing equipment. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
