A car painter preps, primes, and paints vehicles to restore or customize their appearance.Key ResponsibilitiesSurface Preparation: Clean, sand, grind, and fill dents or rust on vehicle surfaces to create a smooth base.Masking: Cover and protect windows, trim, and parts not meant for paint using tape and paper.Color Matching and Mixing: Match vehicle colors using standard codes or computerized mixing tools.Paint Application: Apply primer, base coats, and clear coats using spray guns and proper techniques.Quality Inspection: Check finished work for runs, sags, or imperfections, and buff or polish surfaces as needed.Equipment Maintenance: Clean spray guns, maintain paint booths, and keep the work area safe and tidy.Requirements and QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.
