Job Description
A banquet captain supervises staff and manages all aspects of a banquet or event to ensure a high-quality guest experience. Key responsibilities include coordinating with clients and staff, overseeing event setup and service, addressing guest needs, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met. Staff and event supervision: Oversee and direct banquet staff, assign tasks, and conduct pre-shift meetings to brief the team on event details.
Client coordination: Act as the main point of contact for the event host, confirming details, addressing last-minute changes, and managing requests like special dietary needs.
Event setup and logistics: Ensure the venue is set up according to the client's specifications, including room layout, decorations, and audio-visual equipment.
Service and quality control: Monitor food and beverage service to ensure it meets high standards, assisting the staff during service as needed.
Problem resolution: Address guest inquiries, complaints, and any issues that arise during the event promptly and professionally.
Training and development: Assist in training new banquet staff and ensure all team members adhere to established procedures and company policies.
Safety and compliance: Ensure all safety regulations are followed by staff and guests and maintain a clean and presentable environment throughout the event.
Post-event duties: Oversee the tear-down of the event space, check for any equipment problems, and help with restocking supplies.
