We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced South Indian Cook to join our team in Palakkad. As a South Indian Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking authentic South Indian dishes to the highest standards of taste, quality, and presentation. Responsibilities: Menu Planning: Collaborate with the management team to plan and develop menus featuring a variety of traditional South Indian dishes. Create innovative and appealing recipes while adhering to regional culinary traditions. Food Preparation: Prepare and cook a wide range of South Indian dishes, including but not limited to dosas, idlis, vadas, sambar, rasam, chutneys, and various rice dishes (like biryanis and pulavs). Ensure that all ingredients are fresh, properly portioned, and cooked to perfection. Recipe Execution: Follow standard recipes and cooking techniques to achieve consistent quality and flavor in each dish. Pay attention to detail in seasoning, spicing, and garnishing to enhance the taste and presentation of the food. Quality Control: Monitor food quality and freshness throughout the cooking process. Conduct taste tests and visual inspections to ensure that dishes meet established standards for taste, texture, and appearance. Kitchen Operations: Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations. Communicate effectively with team members to organize tasks, prioritize orders, and maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen. Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory levels of food ingredients, spices, and other kitchen supplies. Notify the management team of any shortages or discrepancies in inventory and help with procurement as needed. Hygiene and Safety: Adhere to strict hygiene and sanitation standards in food preparation, storage, and handling. Follow food safety protocols and guidelines to prevent contamination and ensure food safety for customers. Team Training: Provide guidance and training to kitchen staff on South Indian cooking techniques, recipes, and culinary best practices. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment to promote skill development and teamwork. Customer Feedback: Solicit feedback from customers regarding their dining experience and dishes they enjoyed. Requirements: Proven experience (3-5 years) as a South Indian Cook in a restaurant or hospitality setting, with expertise in preparing a variety of South Indian dishes. In-depth knowledge of South Indian culinary traditions, ingredients, spices, and cooking techniques. Passion for cooking and a creative approach to recipe development and menu planning. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency. Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen staff and other team members. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet business demands. Formal culinary training or certification from a recognized culinary institute is advantageous.
