We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Pantry Man in Ernakulam. The Pantry Man will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, stocking pantry supplies, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. This role plays a vital part in supporting the culinary team and ensuring smooth operation of the kitchen. Responsibilities: Food Preparation Assistance: Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks, such as washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients. Measure and portion ingredients according to recipes and instructions provided by kitchen staff. Prepare mise en place (pre-prepared ingredients) for cooking and assembly of dishes. Stocking and Inventory Management: Receive deliveries of food supplies, groceries, and other pantry items, and ensure proper storage and organization. Stock pantry shelves, refrigerators, and storage areas with ingredients, condiments, and other necessary items. Monitor inventory levels and notify the supervisor when supplies need to be replenished. Pantry Organization: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pantry area, including shelves, cabinets, and storage spaces. Ensure proper labeling and storage of food items, following FIFO (first in, first out) principles to minimize waste. Dispose of expired or spoiled food products in accordance with established procedures. Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces following established procedures and health standards. Sweep, mop, and wipe down floors, walls, and countertops to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment. Empty trash bins and dispose of garbage and recycling materials in designated areas. Assistance to Kitchen Staff: Assist kitchen staff during busy periods by fetching ingredients, retrieving utensils, and providing other support as needed. Collaborate with chefs and cooks to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen and timely preparation of orders. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is a plus but not required. Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks that require bending, lifting, and reaching. Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
