The Chip Level Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing electronic devices at the component level, including laptops, smartphones, tablets, and other consumer electronics. This role requires advanced technical knowledge, proficiency in soldering and microelectronics, and the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware issues. Key Responsibilities: Component-Level Diagnosis: Analyze electronic devices to identify and isolate faults at the component level using schematics, diagrams, and diagnostic tools. Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware issues related to integrated circuits (ICs), printed circuit boards (PCBs), capacitors, resistors, and other electronic components. Soldering and Desoldering: Perform precise soldering and desoldering operations to remove and replace faulty components on PCBs without causing damage to surrounding parts. Use soldering stations, hot air rework stations, soldering irons, and other specialized tools to perform microsoldering and reballing techniques. IC Repair and Replacement: Repair or replace defective integrated circuits (ICs), microcontrollers, and other semiconductor devices using advanced rework techniques. Conduct BGA (Ball Grid Array) rework, including reflowing solder balls, replacing BGA chips, and reballing BGA components for successful solder connections. Hardware Modification and Upgrades: Perform hardware modifications, upgrades, and enhancements to electronic devices, including memory upgrades, storage expansions, and performance optimizations. Install and configure specialized components, such as custom firmware, mod chips, or hardware modifications for unlocking or jailbreaking devices. Quality Assurance and Testing: Conduct functional testing and quality checks on repaired devices to ensure proper functionality, performance, and reliability. Use diagnostic software, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other testing equipment to verify repairs and validate system integrity. Documentation and Reporting: Document all repair procedures, component replacements, and test results accurately in repair logs or service reports. Provide detailed reports to customers or management on the status of repairs, including findings, recommendations, and warranty information. Qualifications: Diploma or certification in Electronics Engineering, Computer Hardware Engineering, or related field. Proven experience (X years) as a Chip Level Technician or Electronics Repair Technician, preferably in a technical service center or electronics repair shop. Advanced knowledge of electronic components, circuitry, and microelectronics principles, including soldering techniques and circuit board repair. Proficiency in using soldering equipment, rework stations, and specialized tools for chip-level repair and rework. Experience with reading and interpreting schematics, circuit diagrams, and datasheets for troubleshooting and diagnosis. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex hardware issues and devise effective solutions. Attention to detail and precision in performing delicate repair operations and handling sensitive electronic components. Familiarity with electronic testing equipment, diagnostic software, and tools for functional testing and quality assurance. Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for performing intricate soldering and rework tasks.
