We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Counselor to join our team in Ernakulam. The Student Counselor will be responsible for providing guidance, support, and counseling services to students to help them navigate academic, personal, and social challenges. Key Responsibilities: Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students, addressing a wide range of academic, personal, and social issues such as academic performance, career planning, stress management, interpersonal relationships, and mental health concerns. Listen attentively to students' concerns, empathize with their experiences, and offer non-judgmental support and guidance to help them explore their thoughts, feelings, and options. Assess students' needs, strengths, and challenges through initial consultations, interviews, and assessments, and develop personalized counseling plans and strategies to address their unique needs and goals. Collaborate with academic advisors, faculty members, and other support staff to coordinate academic interventions, referrals to resources, and accommodations for students with special needs or disabilities. Conduct workshops, seminars, and training sessions on topics related to personal development, study skills, time management, and stress reduction to empower students with essential life skills and resilience. Stay informed about university policies, procedures, and resources related to student support services, and provide accurate information and guidance to students seeking assistance or clarification. Maintain confidential and accurate records of counseling sessions, assessments, and progress notes, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and privacy regulations. Stay up-to-date with best practices, research findings, and trends in counseling and student support services, and incorporate evidence-based approaches into counseling practices. Participate in professional development activities, workshops, and conferences to enhance counseling skills, knowledge, and competencies. Collaborate with campus partners, community organizations, and mental health professionals to provide comprehensive support and referrals for students with complex needs. Qualifications: Master's degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or related field. (Licensed or certified counselors preferred) Proven experience (X years) working as a counselor or therapist, preferably in an educational or student services setting. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport, build trust, and communicate effectively with students from diverse backgrounds. Empathy, patience, and sensitivity to the needs and experiences of students, particularly those facing academic, personal, or emotional challenges. Knowledge of counseling theories, techniques, and interventions, with a focus on cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing. Ability to maintain confidentiality, boundaries, and ethical standards in counseling practice, adhering to professional codes of conduct and legal requirements. Excellent listening and counseling skills, with the ability to facilitate meaningful and productive discussions and interventions. Proficiency in using counseling tools and assessment instruments, such as psychometric assessments, behavioral inventories, and risk assessments. Flexibility to adapt counseling approaches and interventions to meet the unique needs and preferences of individual students.
