Responsibilities: Diagnose and troubleshoot automotive air conditioning (AC) systems, including inspecting AC components, identifying malfunctions, and performing system tests to determine repair requirements. Conduct visual inspections and leak tests on AC system components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, hoses, and fittings, using UV dye, pressure gauges, and electronic leak detectors. Recharge AC systems with refrigerant gas (e.g., R134a) to manufacturer-specified levels, using refrigerant recovery and charging equipment, and verify proper system pressures and temperatures. Perform AC system evacuations, vacuuming moisture and air from the system, and refill refrigerant gas to remove contaminants and ensure optimal system performance and cooling efficiency. Replace faulty or worn-out AC components, such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, receiver-driers, and pressure switches, following manufacturer specifications and repair procedures. Repair or replace AC system hoses, pipes, and fittings, using specialized tools and equipment to ensure proper sealing and connections and prevent refrigerant leaks. Inspect and test AC system electrical components, including relays, switches, wiring harnesses, and sensors, and diagnose electrical faults or wiring issues affecting AC system operation. Perform AC system flushes and cleaning procedures to remove debris, contaminants, and moisture from AC components and improve system efficiency and performance. Conduct performance tests and AC system diagnostics using diagnostic scan tools and equipment, analyzing system data and trouble codes to pinpoint AC system problems accurately. Document all AC system repairs, parts replacements, and service procedures performed, maintaining accurate service records and job cards for customer reference and warranty purposes. Adhere to workplace health and safety regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and respirators, and following proper handling and disposal procedures for refrigerants and hazardous materials. Requirements: Proven experience as an Automobile AC Technician or HVAC Technician, with a minimum of [insert number of years] years of experience in automotive AC system repair and maintenance. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing automotive AC systems, including knowledge of AC system components, refrigeration principles, and HVAC service procedures. Excellent mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify AC system problems, analyze symptoms, and recommend appropriate repair solutions. Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, explain AC system repairs and recommendations, and provide accurate cost estimates. Physical stamina and strength to lift and move heavy AC components, work in confined spaces, and perform manual tasks such as bending, stooping, and reaching in awkward positions. EPA 608 certification for handling refrigerants preferred. Valid driver's license and clean driving record preferred.
