We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Chinese Chef to join our culinary team. The Chinese Chef will be responsible for creating authentic Chinese dishes, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation. Responsibilities: Plan and oversee the preparation of a variety of Chinese dishes, including appetizers, soups, stir-fries, noodles, rice dishes, and desserts, ensuring authenticity, flavor, and quality. Develop and standardize recipes, portion sizes, and preparation methods for Chinese menu items, ensuring consistency and adherence to culinary standards. Procure and maintain high-quality ingredients, spices, and specialty items for Chinese cuisine, monitoring inventory levels and controlling food costs. Supervise and train kitchen staff in Chinese cooking techniques, knife skills, food safety practices, and presentation standards, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork. Ensure that kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations are clean, sanitized, and well-maintained, following food safety regulations and sanitation standards. Coordinate with the restaurant manager and other kitchen staff to plan menu offerings, specials, and promotions, contributing creative ideas and suggestions. Monitor food production levels and kitchen operations to maintain efficient workflow, minimize waste, and meet guest demand during peak hours. Conduct quality control checks on prepared dishes, tasting and adjusting seasoning, flavor, and texture as needed, and ensuring that all dishes meet presentation standards. Collaborate with front-of-house staff to provide information and recommendations to guests about Chinese menu items, ingredients, and cooking techniques. Stay updated on culinary trends, Chinese cooking techniques, and new ingredients, incorporating innovative ideas and dishes into the menu as appropriate. Adhere to health and safety regulations, sanitation standards, and kitchen hygiene practices to prevent foodborne illnesses, accidents, and injuries. Participate in menu planning, recipe development, and food cost analysis, working closely with the management team to achieve business objectives and financial targets. Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and controlling food costs to optimize profitability and minimize waste. Requirements: Proven experience as a Chinese Chef or Sous Chef in a high-volume restaurant or hotel kitchen, specializing in Chinese cuisine. Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary institution preferred. Extensive knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques, ingredients, and regional cuisines, with the ability to create authentic and flavorful dishes. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to supervise and motivate kitchen staff and maintain a positive work environment. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Creativity and innovation in menu development, with a passion for exploring new flavors, ingredients, and cooking methods. Attention to detail and commitment to food quality, presentation, and consistency, ensuring that all dishes meet the restaurant's standards. Knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and kitchen hygiene practices, with a focus on maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
