We are currently seeking a dynamic and compassionate Academic Counselor to join our team and assist students in achieving their academic and career goals. Responsibilities: Provide personalized academic counseling and guidance to students to help them make informed decisions about their educational pathways, courses of study, and career options. Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with students to assess their academic strengths, interests, goals, and challenges, and develop individualized academic plans. Assist students in selecting appropriate courses, majors, and programs based on their academic background, interests, and career aspirations. Interpret and explain academic policies, procedures, and requirements to students, including course registration, credit transfer, and graduation requirements. Advise students on academic and career development strategies, study skills, time management techniques, and resources available for academic support. Provide information and assistance to students regarding internship opportunities, job placement services, and graduate school admissions. Collaborate with academic advisors, faculty members, and other student support services to coordinate academic support initiatives and interventions. Maintain accurate records of student interactions, counseling sessions, academic plans, and progress towards academic goals. Stay updated on educational trends, industry developments, and career pathways to provide relevant and up-to-date information to students. Participate in student orientation programs, academic advising sessions, and other campus events to promote student success and engagement. Support students facing academic challenges, personal issues, or other barriers to success by providing referrals to appropriate campus resources and services. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field. Proven experience as an Academic Counselor, Student Advisor, or similar role, preferably in an educational institution. Strong understanding of academic advising principles, student development theory, and counseling techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with students and build trust. Empathy, patience, and sensitivity to the diverse needs and backgrounds of students. Knowledge of educational pathways, academic programs, and career opportunities in various fields. Familiarity with student information systems (SIS), academic advising software, and online resources for student support. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records and documentation. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate student schedules and campus events.
