As a Dishwasher, you will play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in our kitchen, ensuring that dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are cleaned and sanitized to the highest standards.Your primary goal will be to ensure that our kitchen operates smoothly by keeping the dishwashing area clean and organized, managing the flow of dirty and clean dishes, and supporting the kitchen team as needed. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a strong work ethic. Responsibilities: Operate commercial dishwashing equipment, such as dishwashers, pot washers, and glass washers, following safety protocols and manufacturer instructions. Sort and stack dirty dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment for washing, removing food residue and debris before loading them into the dishwasher. Load and unload dishwashing machines efficiently, arranging items to maximize cleaning effectiveness and prevent breakage or damage. Monitor dishwashing cycles, water temperatures, and chemical levels to ensure that dishes are cleaned and sanitized according to health and safety standards. Hand wash delicate items, oversized pots and pans, and kitchen equipment that cannot be cleaned in the dishwasher, using appropriate cleaning agents and techniques. Inspect dishes, glassware, and utensils for cleanliness and quality, removing any items that do not meet standards and rewashing them as needed. Empty and clean trash bins, recycling containers, and grease traps in the dishwashing area, disposing of waste properly and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation. Clean and sanitize work surfaces, sinks, floors, walls, and equipment in the dishwashing area, following cleaning procedures and using designated cleaning agents and tools. Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling vegetables, washing produce, and portioning ingredients, during slow periods or as directed by the chef. Follow proper handling and storage procedures for cleaning chemicals, detergents, and sanitizers, ensuring safety and compliance with regulatory requirements. Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, servers, and management regarding dishwashing needs, equipment maintenance issues, and supply shortages. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and guidelines related to hygiene, safety, and sanitation at all times, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Participate in training sessions, safety meetings, and other staff development activities to enhance skills and knowledge in dishwashing and kitchen operations. Requirements: Previous experience as a Dishwasher or in a similar role in a restaurant, hotel, or catering facility is preferred but not required. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining attention to detail and quality. Physical stamina and strength to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), and perform repetitive tasks, such as bending, stooping, and scrubbing. Basic understanding of food safety principles, sanitation procedures, and chemical handling practices, with a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene. Positive attitude, teamwork, and willingness to collaborate with colleagues to achieve common goals and deliver exceptional service to guests. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed, to support kitchen operations and meet business needs. Fluency in Malayalam; basic proficiency in English is a plus.
