Responsibilities: Conduct individual counseling sessions with students to assess their academic progress, personal challenges, and career aspirations. Listen attentively to students' concerns, providing empathetic support and guidance to help them overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. Help students develop academic plans, set realistic goals, and identify strategies for academic success, time management, and study skills improvement. Provide information and resources on academic programs, courses, majors, and extracurricular activities to help students make informed decisions about their academic pursuits. Assist students in exploring career options, conducting job searches, preparing resumes, and practicing interview skills to enhance their employability. Organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, and group counseling sessions on topics such as stress management, conflict resolution, communication skills, and career development. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to identify and address students' academic and personal needs, advocating for resources and support services as needed. Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and student progress using designated systems or software. Stay updated on relevant policies, regulations, and best practices in student counseling and higher education to ensure compliance and effectiveness. Participate in professional development activities, training programs, and conferences to enhance counseling skills and stay abreast of emerging trends and research. Serve as a liaison between students and other campus resources, such as academic advisors, career services, mental health counselors, and student support services. Contribute to the development and implementation of student support programs, initiatives, and policies to promote student retention and success. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of counseling services and programs through feedback, surveys, and assessment tools, making recommendations for improvement as needed. Requirements: Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field. Professional certification or licensure in counseling (e.g., LPC, LMHC) is preferred. Proven experience (X years) in student counseling, advising, or related roles, preferably in a higher education setting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trust with students from diverse backgrounds. Empathetic and compassionate demeanor, with a genuine desire to help students overcome challenges and achieve their potential. Knowledge of counseling theories, techniques, and ethical standards applicable to student counseling practice. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively. Proficiency in using computer applications and software for record-keeping, data analysis, and communication. Fluency in Malayalam and English; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
