Responsibilities: Food Preparation: Assist with basic food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as directed by the kitchen staff. Ingredient Organization: Organize and stock ingredients and supplies in designated storage areas, ensuring they are properly labeled, dated, and stored according to food safety standards. Dishwashing: Operate dishwashing equipment to clean pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment. Hand wash dishes as needed and ensure they are thoroughly sanitized and dried. Cleaning and Sanitization: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen area, including countertops, sinks, stovetops, and floors. Follow cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Assistance During Service: Assist kitchen staff during busy periods by fetching ingredients, utensils, and equipment as needed. Help with food assembly, plating, and garnishing under the guidance of the chef or cooks. Trash Disposal: Dispose of kitchen waste and garbage in designated bins or dumpsters. Ensure trash receptacles are emptied regularly and kept clean and odor-free. Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, such as ovens, grills, fryers, and food processors, following manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines. Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels of kitchen supplies, including food ingredients, cleaning supplies, and disposable items. Notify the kitchen supervisor or manager when stock needs to be replenished. Compliance: Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times. Follow proper handwashing and hygiene practices to prevent cross-contamination and foodborne illnesses. Requirements: Basic Culinary Skills: Some basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation techniques is preferred but not required. Willingness to learn and follow instructions from kitchen staff. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, bending, and reaching. Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a kitchen team. Willingness to assist colleagues and contribute to a positive work environment. Reliability: Dependability and punctuality are essential. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
