Responsibilities: Patient Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients presenting with gastrointestinal symptoms, including medical history review, physical examination, and diagnostic testing, to establish accurate diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans. Diagnostic Procedures: Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures and tests, such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and imaging studies, to evaluate the structure and function of the gastrointestinal tract and identify abnormalities or diseases. Medical Treatment: Prescribe and administer appropriate medical treatments, medications, and therapies to manage gastrointestinal conditions, alleviate symptoms, and improve patients' overall health and quality of life. Procedural Interventions: Perform therapeutic procedures and interventions, including endoscopic treatments, biopsies, polypectomies, stent placements, and other minimally invasive procedures, to treat gastrointestinal disorders and provide symptom relief. Patient Counseling: Educate patients and their families about gastrointestinal conditions, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and preventive measures, empowering them to actively participate in their care and make informed decisions about their health. Collaborative Care: Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including gastroenterology specialists, surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and nutritionists, to coordinate patient care, ensure continuity of care, and optimize treatment outcomes. Clinical Research: Participate in clinical research studies, trials, and quality improvement initiatives aimed at advancing the field of gastroenterology, enhancing patient care practices, and contributing to medical knowledge and innovation. Continuing Education: Stay updated on the latest advances, guidelines, and best practices in gastroenterology through ongoing professional development activities, including attending conferences, seminars, and continuing medical education (CME) programs. Quality Assurance: Adhere to quality assurance standards, patient safety protocols, and regulatory requirements in the provision of gastroenterology services, maintaining high standards of clinical excellence and ethical conduct. Requirements: Education: Medical degree (MBBS) from a recognized medical school, followed by completion of a residency program in internal medicine and fellowship training in gastroenterology. Board Certification: Board certification or eligibility in gastroenterology from a recognized medical board or governing body. Licensure: Valid medical license to practice as a Gastroenterologist in Kerala, India. Experience: Previous experience practicing as a Gastroenterologist, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting, is highly desirable. Clinical Skills: Proficiency in performing gastrointestinal procedures, interpreting diagnostic tests and imaging studies, and managing a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions and disorders. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
