As a North Indian Chef, you will be responsible for leading the preparation, cooking, and presentation of North Indian cuisine in our restaurant. Your role involves creating authentic North Indian dishes, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring food quality and consistency. This position requires expertise in North Indian cooking techniques, menu planning, and kitchen management. Responsibilities: Menu Planning and Recipe Development: Plan and develop North Indian menus, including popular dishes like curries, tandoori items, biryanis, and bread varieties. Create recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines for North Indian dishes, ensuring authenticity and quality. Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook North Indian dishes using traditional techniques, spices, and ingredients to achieve authentic flavors and textures. Oversee the cooking process, including marinating meats, preparing sauces, and baking or grilling dishes in tandoor ovens. Ensure that food is cooked to perfection, with attention to taste, aroma, and presentation, while adhering to food safety standards. Kitchen Management: Supervise kitchen staff, including cooks, assistant chefs, and kitchen helpers, to ensure smooth operations and efficient workflow. Coordinate food preparation schedules, work assignments, and kitchen activities to meet service demands and maintain quality standards. Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage food costs to optimize profitability and minimize waste. Quality Control and Presentation: Inspect food items, ingredients, and kitchen equipment for freshness, quality, and sanitation before use. Ensure that dishes are plated and presented attractively, following established presentation guidelines and standards. Taste and adjust seasoning, spices, and flavors as needed to achieve desired taste profiles and customer satisfaction. Hygiene and Safety Compliance: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, including work surfaces, equipment, utensils, and storage areas, following food safety regulations and guidelines. Train kitchen staff on proper food handling, storage, and hygiene practices to prevent contamination and foodborne illnesses. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including fire safety regulations, equipment maintenance, and hygiene protocols. Qualifications and Skills: Diploma or certification in culinary arts, hotel management, or a related field. Proven experience as a North Indian Chef or in a similar role, with expertise in preparing and cooking North Indian cuisine. In-depth knowledge of North Indian cooking techniques, ingredients, spices, and flavors. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead a team and collaborate effectively with kitchen staff.
