As a Student Counselor, you will play a crucial role in providing guidance, support, and assistance to students to help them navigate academic, personal, and career-related challenges. Responsibilities: Student Counseling: Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with students to address academic difficulties, personal issues, career aspirations, and other concerns. Listen actively to students' concerns, provide empathetic support, and offer guidance and solutions to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Assist students in exploring their interests, strengths, and values to make informed decisions about academic majors, career paths, and personal development. Academic Support: Provide academic advising and assistance to students on course selection, study skills, time management, and academic planning. Help students develop strategies for improving academic performance, overcoming obstacles, and accessing academic support services, such as tutoring or study groups. Career Counseling: Guide students in exploring career options, identifying their skills and interests, and setting career goals. Offer resources and information on internships, job opportunities, graduate programs, and professional development opportunities. Assist students with resume writing, interview preparation, networking, and job search strategies. Personal Development: Address students' personal and emotional concerns, including stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, and self-esteem issues. Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and referrals to mental health professionals or support services when needed. Organize workshops, group counseling sessions, or wellness programs to promote student well-being and resilience. Outreach and Collaboration: Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to identify and address student needs, trends, and challenges. Liaise with academic departments, student organizations, and community agencies to coordinate resources and support services for students. Participate in orientation programs, open houses, and student events to promote counseling services and engage with students. Qualifications and Skills: Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field. Certification or licensure as a counselor or therapist is advantageous. Prior experience in counseling, advising, or student support roles in an educational setting. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport and trust with students from diverse backgrounds. Empathy, active listening skills, and the ability to provide nonjudgmental support and guidance. Knowledge of counseling theories, techniques, and ethical guidelines.
