As a Chinese Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking authentic Chinese cuisine in a restaurant or culinary establishment. Your role involves creating flavorful and visually appealing dishes, following traditional recipes and techniques, and ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation. The ideal candidate will have experience in Chinese culinary arts, a passion for cooking, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Key Responsibilities: Menu Planning and Preparation: Collaborate with the head chef or kitchen manager to develop Chinese-inspired menus, incorporating a variety of dishes, flavors, and ingredients. Prepare and cook a wide range of Chinese dishes, including stir-fries, noodles, rice dishes, soups, dumplings, and appetizers, according to established recipes and standards. Ingredient Selection and Procurement: Select and purchase fresh, high-quality ingredients, spices, and seasonings from reputable suppliers to ensure authenticity and flavor in Chinese cuisine. Properly store and handle ingredients to maintain freshness, flavor, and safety standards in the kitchen. Food Preparation and Cooking: Wash, chop, and prepare vegetables, meats, seafood, and other ingredients for cooking, following proper food safety and sanitation practices. Cook dishes using various cooking methods, such as stir-frying, steaming, braising, and deep-frying, to achieve the desired taste, texture, and appearance. Flavor and Seasoning: Season and flavor dishes with traditional Chinese sauces, spices, and condiments, such as soy sauce, oyster sauce, ginger, garlic, and Sichuan peppercorns, to enhance taste and aroma. Adjust seasoning levels and flavor profiles based on customer preferences and feedback. Presentation and Garnishing: Plate and garnish dishes attractively, using decorative techniques and garnishes to enhance visual appeal and create an appetizing presentation. Ensure that portion sizes are consistent and plates are properly arranged before serving to customers. Kitchen Maintenance and Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen, including workstations, cooking equipment, utensils, and storage areas, to meet food safety and hygiene standards. Adhere to proper cleaning and sanitization procedures, including washing dishes, wiping surfaces, and disposing of waste properly. Qualifications and Skills: Proven experience as a Chinese Cook or Chef in a restaurant, hotel, or catering establishment specializing in Chinese cuisine. In-depth knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles. Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume kitchen environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure consistent food quality and presentation. Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and other team members. Certification or formal training in culinary arts or Chinese cuisine is preferred but not required. Additional Information: This is a full-time position based in Kannur, Kerala.
