As a Refrigerator Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining refrigeration systems, including refrigerators, freezers, and ice machines. Your role involves troubleshooting technical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring that refrigeration equipment operates efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of refrigeration technology, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Key Responsibilities: Diagnostic and Repair Work: Inspect malfunctioning refrigeration systems to identify the root cause of problems, such as cooling issues, leaks, or electrical failures. Repair or replace defective components, such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, and electrical wiring, to restore proper functionality. Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on refrigeration equipment, including cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, and lubricating moving parts, to prevent breakdowns and extend the lifespan of equipment. Replace worn or damaged parts and components before they cause major system failures. Refrigerant Handling and Compliance: Handle refrigerants safely and in accordance with environmental regulations and industry best practices. Ensure proper disposal of old refrigerants and compliance with relevant laws and regulations governing refrigerant usage. Installation and Setup: Install new refrigeration systems according to manufacturer specifications and local building codes, ensuring proper placement, wiring, and connection to power sources. Set up and configure temperature controls, defrost timers, and other system components for optimal performance. Customer Service and Communication: Interact professionally with customers to understand their refrigeration needs, explain service options, and provide cost estimates for repairs or installations. Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and customers to coordinate work schedules, share information, and address concerns. Qualifications and Skills: Diploma or certification in refrigeration technology, HVAC/R, or a related field is preferred. Proven experience as a Refrigeration Technician or HVAC technician, with hands-on experience in repairing and maintaining refrigeration systems. Strong technical knowledge of refrigeration principles, refrigerant cycles, electrical circuits, and troubleshooting techniques. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, gauges, and meters to test and troubleshoot refrigeration equipment. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines and customer expectations. Valid driver's license and clean driving record may be required for field service positions. Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
