As an Auto Body Repair Technician, commonly referred to as a Denter, you will be responsible for repairing and restoring vehicle body structures to their original condition. Your primary role involves assessing damage, straightening frames, and replacing or repairing damaged panels to ensure the structural integrity and appearance of vehicles. The ideal candidate will have experience in auto body repair, proficiency in using body repair tools and equipment, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. Key Responsibilities: Damage Assessment: Inspect vehicles to assess the extent of damage to body panels, frames, and structural components. Identify areas requiring repair, replacement, or alignment to restore the vehicle to its pre-accident condition. Frame Straightening: Use frame straightening equipment, hydraulic presses, and measuring tools to realign and straighten vehicle frames and chassis. Apply corrective techniques to remove bends, twists, or deformations and ensure proper alignment and structural integrity. Panel Repair and Replacement: Repair or replace damaged body panels, fenders, doors, hoods, and bumpers using appropriate tools, techniques, and materials. Weld, bond, or rivet new panels into place, ensuring proper fitment, alignment, and finish. Surface Preparation: Prepare repaired surfaces for painting by sanding, filling, and smoothing out imperfections to create a seamless transition between panels. Apply body fillers, primers, and sealants to achieve a smooth, uniform surface ready for painting. Paint Preparation and Finishing: Mask and protect surrounding areas to prevent overspray and contamination during the painting process. Collaborate with painters to ensure color matching, blending, and finishing techniques are applied to achieve a seamless paint job. Quality Assurance: Perform quality inspections throughout the repair process to verify the accuracy, completeness, and quality of work performed. Address any rework or touch-up requirements to meet customer expectations and industry standards. Qualifications and Skills: High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience as an auto body repair technician or denter, with expertise in repairing collision damage, dents, and structural deformations. Proficiency in using body repair tools and equipment, including welders, dent pullers, hydraulic equipment, and measuring instruments. Knowledge of automotive materials, techniques, and safety procedures related to body repair and refinishing. Attention to detail and the ability to work meticulously to achieve precise fitment, alignment, and finish. Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks, lift heavy objects, and work in a standing position for extended periods. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with team members to achieve common goals.
