As a Storekeeper, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the storage area, managing inventory levels, and maintaining accurate records of goods and supplies. This role involves receiving, storing, and distributing materials, as well as ensuring compliance with inventory management procedures and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage inventory effectively. Key Responsibilities: Inventory Management: Receive incoming shipments of goods, materials, or supplies, verifying quantities and inspecting items for damage or defects. Organize and maintain inventory storage areas, ensuring proper labeling, categorization, and placement of items for easy access and retrieval. Conduct regular inventory counts and audits to reconcile physical stock levels with records in the inventory management system. Stock Replenishment: Monitor inventory levels and stock balances, anticipating demand and initiating replenishment orders as needed to maintain optimal stock levels. Coordinate with procurement or purchasing departments to place orders with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of goods and materials. Issuance and Distribution: Fulfill internal requisitions and work orders by picking and packing items from inventory and preparing them for distribution to requesting departments or personnel. Record issuance and distribution transactions accurately in inventory management systems or manual logs, updating inventory records accordingly. Quality Control: Inspect incoming goods and materials for quality assurance, ensuring compliance with specifications, standards, and safety regulations. Identify and report any discrepancies, damages, or shortages in received shipments to supervisors or procurement officers for resolution. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, including receipts, issuances, transfers, and adjustments, in accordance with established procedures. Generate reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and consumption patterns to support decision-making and inventory planning processes. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines for handling, storing, and transporting hazardous or sensitive materials, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Conduct regular inspections of storage areas and equipment to identify potential safety hazards or maintenance issues, reporting findings to relevant authorities. Qualifications and Skills: High school diploma or equivalent qualification required; additional certification or training in inventory management or logistics is a plus. Proven experience as a storekeeper, warehouse clerk, or inventory controller, preferably in a retail, manufacturing, or logistics environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper storage and handling of materials. Familiarity with inventory management software, barcode systems, or electronic data capture tools for tracking and managing inventory. Ability to operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks, safely and efficiently (if applicable). Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, and vendors. Physical stamina and strength to lift and move heavy items, as well as stand, bend, and reach for extended periods during inventory-related tasks.
