As a Car Painter, you will be responsible for refinishing vehicle surfaces and restoring their appearance by applying paint, primer, and protective coatings. This role involves preparing surfaces, mixing paint colors, and applying paint materials using spray guns and other painting equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive painting, proficiency in color matching, and a keen eye for detail. Key Responsibilities: Surface Preparation: Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by sanding, priming, and masking off areas not to be painted, such as windows, trim, and chrome accents. Repair minor dents, scratches, and imperfections on vehicle surfaces using body filler, sanding tools, and other repair techniques. Paint Mixing and Color Matching: Mix paint colors to match vehicle manufacturer specifications or customer preferences using paint mixing equipment and color matching tools. Verify paint colors against color swatches, paint codes, and color spectrophotometers to ensure accuracy and consistency. Paint Application: Apply primer, base coat, and clear coat paint materials to vehicle surfaces using spray guns, ensuring even coverage and smooth finishes. Control paint application techniques, such as spray pattern, pressure, and distance, to achieve desired texture, gloss, and appearance. Quality Control and Finish Inspection: Inspect painted surfaces for imperfections, runs, or inconsistencies, and perform touch-up work or additional coats as needed to achieve a flawless finish. Check color match and blend areas to ensure seamless transitions between painted and unpainted surfaces. Equipment Maintenance and Safety: Clean and maintain painting equipment, spray guns, mixing pots, and paint booths to ensure optimal performance and safety. Follow safety protocols and procedures while handling paint materials, operating spray equipment, and working in a paint booth environment. Customer Service and Communication: Communicate effectively with customers to understand their painting requirements, preferences, and expectations. Provide guidance and recommendations on paint colors, finishes, and options to help customers make informed decisions. Qualifications and Skills: Previous experience in automotive painting, car refinishing, or collision repair is required. Proficiency in surface preparation techniques, paint mixing, color matching, and paint application methods. Knowledge of automotive paint materials, products, and finishing techniques, including base coat/clear coat systems. Attention to detail and precision in color matching, blending, and finishing to achieve high-quality paint results. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers, colleagues, and suppliers effectively. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, following safety protocols and quality standards. Physical stamina and dexterity to perform painting tasks, including standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
