As a Student Counselor in Malappuram, your primary role is to provide guidance, support, and counseling services to students to help them navigate academic, personal, and social challenges. You will work closely with students, parents, teachers, and school administrators to promote student well-being, academic success, and personal development. Key Responsibilities: Student Counseling: Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students to address academic, personal, and social issues. Offer guidance, support, and resources to help students overcome challenges, set goals, and make informed decisions. Academic Support: Assist students in developing study skills, time management techniques, and effective learning strategies. Help students set academic goals, plan course selections, and navigate academic pathways to achieve academic success. Career Guidance: Offer career counseling and exploration services to help students explore career options, identify their interests, skills, and strengths, and make informed career decisions. Provide information on educational pathways, training programs, and career opportunities. Personal Development: Support students in developing social-emotional skills, resilience, and self-confidence. Address issues such as stress, anxiety, peer relationships, and self-esteem through counseling, workshops, and support groups. Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and support to students experiencing emergencies, trauma, or mental health crises. Assess student needs, provide immediate support and referral to appropriate resources, and follow up to ensure ongoing support and recovery. Parental Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents to provide updates on student progress, counseling interventions, and recommendations. Collaborate with parents to address student needs, concerns, and behavioral issues, and promote parental involvement in supporting student well-being. Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, school administrators, and support staff to develop and implement programs and initiatives to support student success and well-being. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student cases and develop intervention plans. Community Outreach: Engage with the local community, educational organizations, and mental health agencies to promote awareness of counseling services and resources. Participate in community events, workshops, and forums to address mental health and well-being issues. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions. Prepare reports, progress notes, and documentation as required by school policies, regulatory guidelines, and professional standards. Professional Development: Stay updated on current trends, best practices, and research in counseling and student support. Attend training sessions, workshops, and conferences to enhance counseling skills, knowledge, and competencies. Qualifications: Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. License or certification in counseling or psychotherapy is preferred. Previous experience in counseling, preferably in an educational setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Empathy, compassion, and ability to build rapport with students. Knowledge of counseling theories, techniques, and ethical guidelines. Understanding of developmental stages and challenges faced by students. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Proficiency in using computer software and applications for documentation and communication.
