You will play a crucial role in enhancing the appearance and durability of vehicles while adhering to quality standards and safety protocols. Below are the key responsibilities associated with this position: Surface Preparation: Preparing vehicle surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming as needed. Removing dirt, grease, rust, and old paint using appropriate tools and techniques to ensure a smooth and clean surface. Color Matching: Matching paint colors to vehicle manufacturer specifications or customer preferences. Using color charts, swatches, or computerized color matching systems to select and mix paint colors accurately. Paint Mixing: Mixing paints, primers, and clear coats to the desired consistency and color according to specifications. Following paint manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines for proper mixing ratios and application techniques. Spray Painting: Operating spray painting equipment, including spray guns, compressors, and related tools, to apply paint coatings evenly and efficiently on vehicle surfaces. Adjusting spray gun settings for spray pattern, air pressure, and paint flow to achieve desired results. Paint Application: Applying paint coatings to vehicle surfaces using spraying techniques, such as cross-hatching, feathering, and blending, to achieve uniform coverage and smooth finishes. Ensuring proper thickness and adhesion of paint layers for durability and longevity. Clear Coating: Applying clear coats to painted surfaces to provide protection, gloss, and depth to the finish. Achieving uniform application of clear coat layers to enhance shine and durability. Quality Control: Inspecting painted surfaces for flaws, imperfections, or inconsistencies in color, texture, or coverage. Touching up or re-painting areas as needed to achieve uniformity and meet quality standards. Detailing and Polishing: Detailing vehicle surfaces after painting to remove overspray, dust, or debris. Buffing, polishing, and waxing painted surfaces to enhance shine and smoothness. Safety Compliance: Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures for handling paints, solvents, and chemicals. Using personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, and goggles to prevent exposure to hazardous materials. Equipment Maintenance: Cleaning and maintaining spray painting equipment, including spray guns, hoses, nozzles, and filters, to ensure proper functioning and longevity. Performing routine maintenance tasks and repairs as needed. Workspace Organization: Organizing and maintaining a clean and orderly workspace, including paint booths, spray booths, and painting areas. Storing paints, tools, and equipment properly to prevent accidents and ensure easy access. Documentation: Recording paint usage, job details, and material consumption for each vehicle. Completing work orders, job cards, and other documentation accurately and promptly for billing, record-keeping, and quality assurance purposes. Requirements: Previous experience as an Automobile Painter or in a similar role, preferably in automotive refinishing or collision repair. Proficiency in automotive painting techniques, equipment operation, and surface preparation methods. Knowledge of paint types, coatings, and application processes for different vehicle surfaces and substrates. Understanding of color theory, mixing ratios, and paint application parameters. Ability to work independently and follow instructions accurately. Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship in achieving smooth finishes and uniform coverage. Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labor, including standing, bending, and lifting. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed to meet project deadlines. Certification or training in automotive painting, refinishing, or collision repair is preferred but not mandatory.
