We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Tyre Retreading Technician in Idukki. The Tyre Retreading Technician will be responsible for retreading worn-out tires to extend their lifespan and ensure safety and performance. Responsibilities: Tyre Inspection: Inspect worn-out tires for damage, wear patterns, and tread depth using visual inspection and measuring tools. Identify areas of concern such as cuts, punctures, bulges, and uneven wear. Buffing: Use specialized buffing machines to remove the old tread rubber from the tire casing, ensuring a smooth and even surface for the new tread application. Adjust buffing settings according to tire size and condition. Repair and Patching: Repair minor damage such as cuts and punctures in the tire casing using appropriate patching materials and techniques. Ensure that repaired areas are properly sealed to prevent air leaks and maintain tire integrity. Tread Application: Apply new tread rubber to the buffed tire casing using retreading molds and equipment. Follow manufacturer specifications and recommended procedures for applying the tread pattern, thickness, and alignment. Curing: Place retreaded tires in curing chambers or autoclaves to bond the new tread rubber to the tire casing under controlled temperature and pressure conditions. Monitor curing process to ensure proper bonding and curing of the tread rubber. Quality Control: Inspect finished retreaded tires for quality and consistency, checking tread depth, alignment, and appearance. Perform final trimming and finishing of the tread surface to remove excess rubber and ensure uniformity. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all retreading activities, including tire inspections, repairs, tread applications, curing cycles, and quality inspections. Record relevant information such as tire size, brand, and customer details for traceability. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations when operating retreading machinery and handling chemicals and materials. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices to prevent accidents and injuries. Requirements: Prior experience in tire retreading or a related field preferred but not required. Willing to train candidates with mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn. Familiarity with retreading equipment, tools, and techniques. Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical stamina and the ability to lift and maneuver heavy tires and equipment. Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
