As a Chinese Cook at our restaurant in Palakkad, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking authentic Chinese cuisine dishes to meet the culinary standards and preferences of our customers. Your culinary skills, creativity, and attention to detail will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality dishes and ensuring customer satisfaction. Your duties will include but are not limited to: Menu Planning: Assist in developing and updating the menu for Chinese cuisine dishes, including appetizers, main courses, soups, and desserts, based on customer preferences, seasonal ingredients, and culinary trends. Food Preparation: Prepare and cook a variety of Chinese dishes, such as stir-fries, noodles, fried rice, dim sum, and seafood specialties, using traditional cooking methods, recipes, and ingredients to ensure authentic flavors and textures. Ingredient Selection: Source and select fresh and high-quality ingredients, herbs, and spices for Chinese cooking, and ensure proper storage, handling, and portioning to maintain food safety and quality standards. Food Presentation: Plate and present Chinese dishes in an aesthetically pleasing and appetizing manner, paying attention to detail in garnishing, portioning, and arrangement to enhance visual appeal and customer satisfaction. Kitchen Management: Manage the kitchen operations efficiently, including inventory management, stock rotation, and equipment maintenance, to ensure smooth workflow and timely preparation of dishes during peak hours. Hygiene and Sanitation: Adhere to strict hygiene and sanitation standards in food handling, storage, and preparation, including cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment, to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety. Quality Control: Monitor the quality and consistency of dishes throughout the cooking process, taste-testing and adjusting seasoning as needed, and maintaining high standards of taste, texture, and presentation. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with kitchen staff, including sous chefs, line cooks, and kitchen assistants, to coordinate food preparation and ensure timely delivery of orders, while fostering a positive and cooperative work environment. Customer Interaction: Interact with customers to understand their preferences, accommodate special requests or dietary restrictions, and provide recommendations or suggestions on Chinese dishes to enhance their dining experience. Requirements: Proven experience as a Chinese cook or chef, preferably in a restaurant or culinary establishment specializing in Chinese cuisine. Extensive knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques, ingredients, and recipes, with a passion for authentic Chinese flavors and culinary traditions. Creativity and innovation in developing new dishes or adapting traditional recipes to suit modern tastes and preferences. Excellent culinary skills, including knife skills, cooking methods, and plating techniques, with attention to detail and presentation. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with kitchen staff and other team members. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in the restaurant industry. Culinary certification or diploma from a recognized culinary school is preferred. Salary: Commensurate with experience.
