a Chip Level Technician, your primary responsibility is to diagnose, repair, and maintain electronic devices at the component level, with a focus on identifying and resolving issues within integrated circuits (ICs) and other microelectronic components. You will work in a technical capacity, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and soldering equipment to troubleshoot and repair electronic circuits, components, and systems. Key Responsibilities: Component-Level Diagnosis: Conduct detailed diagnostic assessments of electronic devices, such as computers, smartphones, tablets, and other gadgets, to identify faults, defects, or malfunctions at the chip level. Circuit Board Repair: Repair or replace defective electronic components on circuit boards, including ICs, resistors, capacitors, diodes, and transistors, using specialized soldering and desoldering techniques. Microsoldering: Perform intricate microsoldering tasks to repair damaged traces, pads, vias, and connections on circuit boards, ensuring precise and reliable repairs without causing further damage to delicate components. BGA Rework: Conduct BGA (Ball Grid Array) rework procedures to repair or replace faulty BGA chips, such as CPUs, GPUs, and memory chips, using reballing, reflow, or rework stations to ensure proper alignment and soldering of BGA components. Data Recovery: Utilize specialized tools and techniques to recover data from electronic devices with damaged or inaccessible storage media, such as failed hard drives, solid-state drives (SSDs), or memory cards, ensuring the safe retrieval of valuable data for customers. Firmware Repair: Repair or reprogram firmware on electronic devices, including BIOS/UEFI chips, NAND flash memory, and firmware modules, to resolve firmware-related issues, update system firmware, or restore device functionality to factory specifications. Diagnostic Testing: Perform comprehensive diagnostic tests and functional checks on repaired electronic devices to verify proper operation, stability, and reliability, ensuring that all repaired devices meet quality standards and performance expectations. Quality Control: Conduct rigorous quality control checks and inspections on repaired electronic devices to detect and rectify any defects, errors, or inconsistencies before returning devices to customers, ensuring the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of repairs, replacements, diagnostic findings, and quality control procedures. Document repair procedures, parts used, and customer interactions for internal tracking, reporting, and warranty purposes. Customer Service: Provide professional technical support and assistance to customers, answering inquiries, providing status updates, and offering guidance on device usage, care, and maintenance. Communicate effectively with customers to understand their concerns, address their needs, and ensure their satisfaction with repair services. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent qualification. Proven experience in electronics repair, with a focus on chip-level troubleshooting and repair. Technical expertise in diagnosing and repairing integrated circuits (ICs), microelectronic components, and circuit boards. Proficiency in soldering and desoldering techniques, including surface-mount technology (SMT) and through-hole soldering. Experience with advanced soldering equipment, such as hot air rework stations, soldering irons, soldering tweezers, and microscope systems. Familiarity with electronic testing equipment, diagnostic tools, and oscilloscopes for troubleshooting and testing electronic circuits and components. Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail. Excellent hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and manual skills for performing precise and delicate repairs.
