We are currently seeking an experienced and talented South Indian Chef to lead our culinary team and oversee the preparation of authentic South Indian cuisine at our restaurant in Palakkad. The South Indian Chef will be responsible for creating and executing innovative dishes, maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Responsibilities: Develop and create innovative and authentic South Indian dishes, incorporating traditional recipes and modern culinary techniques. Plan and design menus that showcase a variety of South Indian specialties, including dosas, idlis, vadas, sambar, rasam, chutneys, and regional delicacies. Lead and supervise the kitchen team in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of South Indian dishes, ensuring consistency and quality. Train and mentor kitchen staff on South Indian cooking techniques, recipes, and presentation standards. Coordinate with the restaurant management team to develop seasonal menus, specials, and promotions. Monitor food inventory levels and order supplies as needed to maintain freshness and availability of ingredients. Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper storage, handling, and preparation of food products. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workstations, equipment, and utensils. Collaborate with the front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and timely delivery of food orders. Stay updated on current trends and innovations in South Indian cuisine, and incorporate new ideas into menu development and presentation. Handle any kitchen-related issues or emergencies that may arise, ensuring efficient resolution and minimal disruption to service. Perform administrative tasks, such as inventory management, scheduling, and cost control, to optimize kitchen operations. Requirements: Proven experience as a South Indian Chef or Head Chef specializing in South Indian cuisine, preferably in a high-volume restaurant or hotel. Strong knowledge of South Indian culinary traditions, ingredients, and cooking techniques. Creative flair and passion for creating innovative and memorable dishes. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire kitchen staff. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Fluent in Malayalam; proficiency in English is an advantage. Certification or training in culinary arts and food safety and sanitation practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other team members. Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including standing for extended periods and lifting heavy objects.
