Job Description: The Wheel Alignment Technician is responsible for inspecting, adjusting, and aligning vehicle wheels to ensure proper alignment and handling. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a focus on customer satisfaction to deliver reliable wheel alignment services and maintain the integrity of the vehicles serviced. Responsibilities: Vehicle Inspection: Perform visual inspections of vehicle suspension systems, steering components, and tires to assess alignment issues and identify potential problems or wear. Wheel Alignment: Use computerized wheel alignment equipment to measure and adjust wheel angles, including camber, caster, and toe, to manufacturer specifications. Ensure precise alignment to improve vehicle stability, handling, and tire wear. Alignment Adjustment: Make necessary adjustments to suspension and steering components, such as tie rods, control arms, and bushings, to correct alignment angles and ensure proper alignment geometry. Diagnostic Testing: Conduct diagnostic tests, such as test drives and alignment checks, to verify alignment accuracy and identify any additional alignment or suspension issues that may require attention. Customer Communication: Communicate alignment findings, recommendations, and repair estimates to customers clearly and effectively. Provide explanations and advice on alignment issues and maintenance requirements to help customers make informed decisions. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of alignment measurements, adjustments, and service history for each vehicle serviced. Document alignment specifications, parts replaced, and labor performed for billing and warranty purposes. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration checks on wheel alignment equipment to ensure accurate and reliable operation. Quality Assurance: Ensure that all alignment procedures and adjustments comply with industry standards and manufacturer guidelines. Conduct post-alignment checks and test drives to verify alignment quality and customer satisfaction. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing alignment services and working in the service bay. Follow proper procedures for vehicle lifting, alignment equipment operation, and tool handling to prevent accidents or injuries. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other technicians, service advisors, and parts personnel to coordinate alignment services and support overall service center operations. Share knowledge and expertise with team members to improve alignment service quality and efficiency. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent qualification required. Technical training or certification in automotive technology or wheel alignment preferred. Proven experience as a wheel alignment technician or automotive service technician, with hands-on experience performing wheel alignments using computerized alignment equipment. Proficiency in using wheel alignment tools and equipment, including alignment racks, wheel clamps, alignment sensors, and alignment software. Strong understanding of vehicle suspension systems, steering geometry, and alignment principles. Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve alignment issues accurately and efficiently. Excellent attention to detail and precision in alignment measurements and adjustments.
