As a Cake Maker at our bakery, you will play a pivotal role in crafting beautiful and delicious cakes that exceed our customers' expectations. Job Description: As a Cake Maker, you will be responsible for preparing, baking, decorating, and finishing cakes according to customer orders and design specifications. Your primary responsibilities will include mixing ingredients, baking cakes, decorating with frosting and decorations, and ensuring the quality and presentation of each cake. You will work closely with our bakery team to fulfill orders, maintain cleanliness, and uphold our reputation for excellence. Key Responsibilities: Cake Preparation: Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes and formulas, ensuring accuracy and consistency in flavor and texture. Prepare cake batter, fill cake pans, and bake cakes in commercial ovens, following baking times and temperature guidelines for optimal results. Monitor baking progress, rotate trays as needed, and conduct quality checks to ensure that cakes are baked to perfection. Cake Decoration: Decorate cakes with frosting, icing, fondant, and edible decorations, using piping bags, spatulas, and other tools to create intricate designs and decorative elements. Apply frosting and icing evenly to cover cakes, smooth surfaces, and create decorative patterns, borders, and accents according to customer preferences. Use creativity and artistic flair to customize cakes with personalized messages, names, and images, incorporating thematic concepts and design themes. Customization and Personalization: Consult with customers to understand their cake preferences, design ideas, and special requests, offering creative suggestions and recommendations as needed. Customize cakes according to customer orders, including flavor preferences, dietary restrictions, and thematic concepts, ensuring that each cake meets the customer's specifications. Quality Control: Conduct visual inspections and taste tests to ensure that all cakes meet our quality standards for taste, texture, appearance, and freshness. Make adjustments or corrections to cakes as needed to address any imperfections or deficiencies in decoration, presentation, or flavor. Sanitation and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized work area, including countertops, work surfaces, equipment, and utensils, following sanitation and hygiene guidelines to ensure food safety. Clean and sanitize equipment, tools, and utensils after each use, and dispose of waste and food scraps properly to maintain a hygienic baking environment. Qualifications: Previous experience as a cake decorator, pastry chef, or baker in a bakery or food service establishment preferred. Knowledge of baking techniques, cake decoration methods, and pastry arts. Creativity, artistic flair, and attention to detail in cake design and decoration. Familiarity with a variety of frosting, icing, and decoration techniques. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
