The Laptop Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining laptops and other computer hardware devices. Key Responsibilities: Diagnosis and Troubleshooting: Perform thorough diagnostics to identify hardware and software issues affecting laptops and related devices. Troubleshoot and isolate problems, including hardware malfunctions, operating system errors, and software conflicts. Hardware Repair and Replacement: Disassemble, repair, and reassemble laptops to replace defective components such as motherboards, hard drives, memory modules, and batteries. Install and configure hardware upgrades, including RAM, storage drives, graphics cards, and peripherals. Software Installation and Configuration: Install, update, and configure operating systems, drivers, and software applications on laptops according to customer requirements. Perform data backups and restore operations to safeguard customer data and ensure data integrity during repair processes. Virus and Malware Removal: Scan laptops for viruses, malware, and other security threats using antivirus software and removal tools. Clean and disinfect systems to remove harmful software and restore system performance and security. Customer Service and Support: Provide technical support and assistance to customers, both in-person and over the phone, to troubleshoot issues and resolve queries. Educate customers on best practices for laptop maintenance, security, and performance optimization. Documentation and Reporting: Document all repairs, replacements, and service activities in detail, including parts used, procedures followed, and recommendations provided. Generate service reports and invoices for customers, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information. Qualifications: Diploma or certification in Computer Hardware Engineering, Electronics, or related field. Proven experience (X years) as a Laptop Technician or Computer Repair Technician, preferably in a retail or service center environment. In-depth knowledge of laptop hardware components, architecture, and assembly/disassembly procedures. Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues using diagnostic tools and software utilities. Experience with common operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux, and familiarity with system recovery and repair techniques. Hands-on experience in soldering, reflowing, and component-level repair techniques is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to resolve technical issues effectively. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and solutions to non-technical customers. Attention to detail and accuracy in performing repairs, documenting procedures, and handling customer inquiries.
